1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture - screening & discussion on 1/3/24

The Aashna Counselling & Psychotherapy Creative Team are delighted to invite you to a screening and short discussion of new documentary 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture as part of LGBTQ+ History Month on Friday 1 March 2024, 6.30 - 9 pm.

What if the word “homosexual” was never meant to be in the Bible?

1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture is a feature documentary that follows the story of researchers who tirelessly trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946.

It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice.

Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 is challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.

The documentary powerfully explores director Sharon “Rocky” Roggio's intersectional journey of sexuality and faith navigating with both challenge and grace the relational conflict of acceptance with her pastor father.

We will hold space for a brief discussion following the screening.

The £6 fee includes the cost of screening the film, snacks and soft drinks. With Aashna events any remaining funds will be donated to Aashna+ our social justice project offering accessible therapy to those who may otherwise struggle to access therapy.

Are there solutions that provide constant privacy in UK homes without needing manual control?

Many UK homeowners prefer solutions that work automatically rather than requiring daily adjustments. Traditional curtains can feel inconvenient and block natural light. I came across https://www.tintfit.com/shop/privacy-products/privacy-24-hour-privacy where options are designed for continuous privacy, allowing rooms to stay bright while limiting outside visibility both day and night.
