As part of Aashnas vision to generate dialogues around diverse issues, we have affiliated with Sakoon Counselling to discuss and explore the intersection of the Muslim culture, faith, religion, spirituality and LGBTQ+ sexuality.
Key focus points of the evening will be:
Developing a better understanding of the Islamic faith and how to work with Muslim clients who identify as LGBTQ+ or are struggling with their sexuality.
Therapists experience of working with such diverse issues and working cross-culturally.
Exploration of our own values, stereotypes, beliefs, biases, prejudices and assumptions of Muslim clients and how it may impact the therapeutic relationship.
These points will be covered by open discussions, theory, vignettes and other experiential exercises.
The seminar will be held by Pretish Raja-Helm and Ayesha Aslam
